Jared Cannon was raised in North Central Florida. He received his undergraduate degrees at the University of West Florida, in Pensacola, Florida. He then attended the University of Tulsa, where he received both a Juris Doctorate and an MBA. During his time at TU, Jared served as a summer editor for the energy law journal, represented ICE detainees with TU's Immigrant Rights Project, and competed on TU's American Association for Justice Trial Team for two years. For his work with the AAJ team, he was inducted into The Order of the Barristers. Jared also externed with the Wagoner County District Attorney's office and interned with a criminal defense firm in Tulsa, Oklahoma that specialized in sex crimes.
Upon graduating and passing the bar, Jared worked for the District Attorney's office in District 27. He prosecuted felony, misdemeanor and juvenile cases in Wagoner, Sequoyah, Adair, and Cherokee counties. During his time as a prosecutor Jared tried multiple jury trials ranging from juvenile deprived cases to serious felonies such as Aggravated Trafficking and Assault with a Dangerous Weapon. He also conducted countless preliminary hearings and non-jury trials.
As an Assistant District Attorney, Jared also taught Center for Law Enforcement, Education and Training classes to Sequoyah County Law enforcement trainees. Those classes were on a variety of subjects, such as warrant requirements, warrantless arrests, and other areas of police practices.
After leaving the DA's office he worked as an attorney for an acclaimed criminal firm in Oklahoma. During his time with the firm, he managed a regional office, and handled criminal cases ranging from Murder to DUI. He left the firm, in December, 2024, to get married and relocate to McCurtain County, Oklahoma.
He is licensed to practice in Oklahoma, Washington D.C., and Choctaw and Cherokee tribal courts.
